Hi Marion and Carl As you know Tilly is now here with me in Spain, she had a long journey to get here but as always she coped well with the traveling and arrived a bit tired but wasn't stressed at all. I started working with Tilly as a 3 yr old, all we did with her then was lunge her and lightly back her and then turned her away until the winter. She came back into work with no problems and she was always easy to do and took most things in her stride. As a 4 yr old I took her to a local showing show. We entered in a riding horse class , she was a bit lively outside the ring but once in the ring she behaved like it was something she had been doing for years!!. Even the judge was surprised that it was her first show and we won the class. I concentrated on her schooling with help from Ken Murphy on the ground, she came on leaps and bounds. She is sharp at times and I have learnt to sit quietly and not put too much pressure on her. Ken was very helpful and as he has ridden and shown arabs in the past he understood her mind. I also had some jumping lessions with Geoff Quinlan and again she took to this with no problems at all. When I moved to Spain Tracy continued her schooling and has kept the work up to a good standard, When Tracy asked me if I wanted her here in Spain I was looking forward to training her again. So work started again when she arrived, her flat work is improving day by day, everything new that I introduce to her she will have a go at, as long as she isn't pushed to quickly she relishes the challenge. Her lateral work is established in leg yield and shoulder in, in walk and trot, we have touched on Renver, Traver and half pass and she has no problems with theses either. Flying changes are easy for her, but we have to take some of the exuberance out of them!!!! I alternate her work with schooling , hacking and lunging to keep her mind happy, hacking she finds a bit scary at first , cars , tractors aren't the problem it is scary things like rocks that make her spook!!! But after 10min or so she is fine. When I first saw Tilly I have to admit I did think what has Tracy got now!!! But when I saw her move I knew then that she had good paces to work with. Tracy done a good job with her early training by handling her well and taking her out for walks in hand. this made her introduction to being backed easy. I will keep you up to date on her progress and hopefully I will be able to get a video of her schooling done. Tilly has proved to be a good ridden horse and a good mum producing a stunning foal, he has inherited her good paces and has a good temperament as well.
